The Low Power to High Power Broadcast Media Tour

As of 2004 there were five giant media conglomerates that controled the media in which the majority of the US relys upon. These companies play a major role in influencing the politics of the country and conditioning social values. These five -- Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's New Corp, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom own most of the newspapers, magazines, book publishers, radio and TV stations in the US. The top five, plus NBC (owned by General Electric at a close # 6), manufacture politics and social values through dis-information, omission, and distorted portrayals of governmental policies and actions, and have been a major force in creating conservative politics in the US. The Low Power to High Power Broadcast Media Tour, took place on 09/01/04 during the protests adjacent to the Republican National Convention in NYC. Using a com_muni_port, live and pre-recorded sound was broadcast to tour participant radios, projecting a public broadcast mob of sorts. The public performance, including props and FM frequency activation, connected midtown Manhattan global media sites, highlighting their corporate monopolization of mass media, influence on deregulation of the US FCC policy, and the media's close affiliations with conservative politics.
